Cast and let the Stalker sink a little. Make short jerks with your rod tip downward to get the the Stalker to glide left and right. This is the "walk the dog" action that is killer for musky and pike. This is a slow and steady retrieve. Stop occasionally to let the lure sit then restart your retrieve. The great thing about the Stalker is that it can a "Crazy Ivan", which means it actually turns all the way around and looks backward. How can a following musky resist? Cast and let the Stalker sink. This time reel and jerk the rod down, over and over, all in one motion. After moving the bait 15 to 20 feet stop and let the lure sink a little, then re-start the fast jerk and reeling motion again. Some days this fast darting action triggers strikes and not follows. When fishing post spawn muskies this fast darting retrieve triggers the killer instinct in big fish. Even fish in a neutral mood can't resist a bait fish darting past them. Sometimes a fast moving bait like the Stalker can cause a "reaction bite" from the wariest musky. Cast and let the Stalker sink just a bit. Reel fast and stop, over and over, to make it look like a wounded then fleaing bait fish. This is very similar to the second retrieve noted above, only it's easier on the arms and wrist. After a day of heavy lifting, you'll appreciate letting the reel do some of the work.
