Musky Shop Northwoods Fishing Report: Late April

Musky Shop Northwoods Fishing Report: Late April

James Stewart April 21, 2023

Hi Everyone,

I hope everyone is having a great start to spring. Here in the Minocqua area, old man winter isn't quite ready to give up. I would say 99% of the lakes are ice covered and most of them have approximately 6"-10" of ice. Most of the ice on the shorelines is starting to open up so getting out on the ice from shore can be difficult. If you decide to try some late season ice fishing, please use extreme caution and take all of the necessary precautions.

The fishermen that have been going out are catching some nice Crappies, Perch, and Panfish. Crappie Minnows, Rosy Reds, Waxies, Red Spikes and White Spikes have been the best bait for late season success.

Our Walleye opener here in the Northwoods of Wisconsin is May 6th this year and all of us are very excited for open water and ready to get the boat out and target some Walleye. All of us at The Musky Shop are pretty well hardcore devoted to Muskies however we all enjoy fishing for everything. After a pretty long winter we are all itching to have open water, get the boat out and enjoy God's creation.

Keep an eye out for our next fishing report as we will have some good information for you for early season Walleye fishing here in Oneida and Vilas County Wisconsin. We have a huge selection of Musky inventory such as Musky rods, Musky reels, Musky baits, tackle boxes, and everything Musky so if you're heading up north to Minocqua, please feel free to stop by and grab some Musky tools to get set for the Muskie season. We would love to serve your needs the best that we can, it is our honor.

Some of our guides still have some openings so if you want to hook up with one of our guides, please contact Jodie through our guide service as she will do her best to get you fitted with the guide to meet your needs and have a fun day on the water.

Well, that's it for this time around, again we will have more fishing information for you as we get closer to our Walleye opener.

Please let us know if we can be of service to you as it will be our pleasure.

Good Fishing and God Bless, Jim Stewart
