Northwoods Accomodations and Destinations

Jodie Paul July 29, 2022

We at Musky Shop would like to take the time to highlight some of our advertising partners for our Musky Shop Guide Service website this weekend on our blog.  The Northwoods has a lot to offer in terms of relaxing outdoor activities for tourists and locals a like, but what drives a lot of our local economy are the many lodges and locals that employ our local townspeople.  Several of these lodges have offered their support to our Guide Service page, so we’d like to give them an extra shoutout for those looking for travel accommodations in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.

Nitschke's Northern Resort

Nitschke's Northern Resort is a 4-seasons, year-round family vacation destination with 17 spacious, lakefront cabins that combine the quaint Northwoods charm with modern, luxury conveniences. The spacious property is settled away from the chaos of the city with resources still just minutes away.  Guests can also take the brisk 10-minute walk over the bear skin trail to downtown Minocqua and enjoy some fine dining, great shopping and the best fudge in the Northwoods!

Nitsche’s is a 4-season resort located in northern Wisconsin where there are more trees than buildings and more deer than people. We are the perfect getaway for a family of any size. They have 17 cabins that offer more than just shelter, but a true Northwoods experience. With amenities such as gas fireplaces, full tub/shower baths, fully equipped kitchens with all cooking equipment and 4 season enclosed sunrooms, you’ll want to bring your family. Not only do they have the only sandy, private, walk-up beach on Lake Minocqua, but are also situated adjacent to the Bear Skin Trail, an 18-mile trail suitable for biking, hiking and even snowmobiling in the winter.

The Water’s of Minocqua

The Water’s of Minocqua boasts over 100 guest rooms and is the perfect place to stay whether on a family getaway or important business trip. With indoor-outdoor pools, slides and a kiddie play area, our fun waterpark is the largest in the Northwoods and complimentary for all hotel guests. Other perks of our resort include The Waters Pub, redemption arcade, complimentary continental breakfast and WIFI throughout the resort. We have excellent meeting facilities for all occasions.

If you prefer a hotel setting with a rustic feel, The Water’s of Minocqua is the perfect place to stay.  It has a year-round restaurant inside to serve you a warm meal from Tuesday through Saturday.  Amenities abound at The Water’s making it great for family travel.  If rainy days keep your family off the local lakes, The Water’s offers a family waterpark, fitness center, and arcade to keep you entertained.  It is situated minutes from Downtown Minocqua and lakes and hiking galore.

Driftwood Lodge

Driftwood Lodge, on the shores of Mercer Lake, is just a short drive from downtown Minocqua, but our pristine wilderness setting will quickly make you think you are in another world.  From the moment you drive in beneath the tall virgin pines and past our charming and cozy, two-to-five-bedroom Vacation Homes and Suites, you’ll experience the finest “Family Vacation and Fishing Resort” the Northwood’s has to offer. Driftwood Lodge is a popular destination for Family Reunions, Family Vacations, Fishing Trips, Business Outings, Church Retreats and Romantic Get-a-Ways. Each one of their Vacation Homes and Suites are tastefully decorated and immaculate inside and out.  Some Feature whirlpool tubs, steam showers and fireplaces.

Driftwood Lodge is located on the shores of beautiful, pristine Mercer Lake, a 257-acre spring fed, Class "A" Musky and Walleye Lake with no public boat landing - perhaps the finest musky fishing waters in all of Wisconsin. Also very plentiful are walleye, smallmouth bass, crappie and panfish. You can leisurely explore our miles of scenic shoreline and two uninhabited islands in your boat, in one of ours, by kayak or canoe, with minimal boat traffic.

Cedar Falls Campground

The rush of the falls. The solitude and pristine beauty of the Willow Flowage. The whispering boughs of mighty pines on thousands of acres of undeveloped forest land. All this is yours at the Cedar Falls Campground. Cedar Falls Campground features: RV electric campsites, boat landing, clean showers and restrooms, laundry, fish cleaning facility, sanitary dump station, garbage and recycling, rustic sites on the Tomahawk River, and access to Willow Flowage.

Located in one of Wisconsin's last wilderness settings, Cedar Fall Campground offers hiking in the forest surrounding the campground. Fabulous fishing on the Tomahawk River and the 7,000-acre Willow Flowage. And bring your camera and binoculars because wildlife is abundant. Reservations are strongly advised as the campground fills up quickly.  You can have a great experience on a smaller budget by bringing your family to the Cedar Falls Campground.

All of the places mentioned above and many more can be found to accommodate your family during your Northwoods vacation.  We recommend you stop by the Musky Shop Guide Service for more links and information about a musky adventure and specific lake data of destination fishing in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.
